Eleven years, eleven months, and twenty-five days have passed since the 21st century. Many significant events have taken place, good and bad in American society. Some events that have happened so far are: Bush getting elected as president, the attack of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon by Islamic terrorists which led to more than 3,000 deaths, Iraq war, seven astronauts killed after the Columbia space shuttle exploded, Red Sox winning the World Series and breaking the Bambino curse, Hurricane Katrina, and a hundred more significant events. The 21st century has been full of technological advances which have impacted the world in a positive and negative way. Despite all the wonderful things that make up our world today, there are a lot of things that are wrong which are the reasons why the world is the way it is. The bad economy, world hunger, pollution, water scarcity, political corruption, racism, segregation are some of the issues that we face today. What social justice means to me is the idea to stand up against injustice and talking action. It’s based on the principles of equality and solidarity. Many injustices have risen in the 21st century and many social justice acts have happened to fight the injustice. For example the protests in Lybia to overthrow the dictator, occupy Wall Street and so on. The values, principles, and beliefs that I think we should use to guide humanity in the 21st century are honesty, love, respect, logic, caring of others, service, and discipline. If humans use these values and believe in the idea of social justice to solve the issues that is causing many people to suffer, then the world would be a better place and it would reduce injustice. As easy as it sounds there are many obstacles that don’t let us stand up for injustice. Some obstacles are money, time, getting the government to hear us, informing people, and having people to work on the subject.
